Fox Theatre
Olson Steel was proud to be part of the team that contributed to the effort to restore and renovate the Fox Oakland Theater, a National Historic Landmark movie palace in downtown Oakland. This project involved the interior renovation and seismic upgrade of the existing building, which had been built in the 1920s. Olson provided stage platforms and performed extensive support work above the existing ceilings and catwalks. Two large buttresses were installed to support the building. Olson fabricated numerous specialized pieces for this project to renovate the interior in a way that retained its original appearance while incorporating newer, improved designs. Ornamental rails throughout the building were also included in this project.
